5th Grade Sundancer Wins 3rd place in the International Holiday Art Contest with Virgen de Guadalupe Drawing
Our talented 5th-grade student has gained recognition for his extraordinary artwork celebrating global holiday traditions. His stunning depiction of La Virgen de Guadalupe, was selected in “Holiday Around The World” art contest featuring submissions from students through our district’s schools.
The drawing showcases La Virgen de Guadalupe. The student beautifully captured the essence of the Virgin's cultural and spiritual significance, blending traditional imagery with their own creative vision.
The competition, which encouraged participants to create art inspired by holiday traditions worldwide, received several entries. The winning piece will be displayed at the Central office highlighting the diverse ways communities celebrate the season.
"I chose La Virgen de Guadalupe because she's an important part of my family’s traditions," said the young artist. "Her story inspires me, and I wanted to share that with others."
The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, celebrated on December 12, is a cherished holiday in Mexico and among Catholic communities worldwide, honoring the Virgin Mary’s miraculous appearance to Juan Diego in 1531. This artwork reflects the student’s skill and serves as a reminder of the beauty and diversity of global holiday traditions.
The school plans to honor the student with a special ceremony, and their artwork will be featured in local exhibitions throughout the holiday season.
