High School Students Spread Holiday Cheer with Gift Exchange for Elementary Students
In the true spirit of Christmas, high school students at Hanks partnered with elementary students from Tierra del Sol for a heartwarming gift exchange that brought smiles and joy to all involved.
The initiative, organized by the high school’s [Knight Vision, Engineering, DECA/FBLA, Speech & Debate, Yearbook and Fashion], encouraged older students to purchase gifts for their younger counterparts. This effort not only fostered a sense of generosity and kindness but also highlighted the importance of community and connection during the holiday season.
The event took place on Dec. 16th, where high school students personally delivered the gifts to their elementary "buddies." The exchange was filled with laughter, heartfelt conversations, and plenty of festive cheer as the younger students opened their surprises.
“It’s a wonderful way to show the true meaning of Christmas,” said Lori Cardon, who helped coordinate the project. “Our high school students have shown incredible compassion and leadership by making this holiday season special for the younger kids.”
Many elementary students expressed excitement and gratitude for their gifts, which ranged from books and toys to personalized items. For the high schoolers, the experience was equally rewarding.
“Seeing their faces light up when they opened their gifts was the best part,” shared a high school student. “It reminded me how important it is to give back and spread kindness.”
This memorable event exemplifies the spirit of giving and strengthens the bond between the high school and elementary communities, making this holiday season one to remember.
